Interviewing Kat was a blast! Kat is warm and thoughtful, but don’t be mistaken by her kind and compassionate nature. She is equally equipped with a no BS, tell it like it is personality, who does not believe in putting limits on herself or her dreams.
Kat started out as a dancer for the Toronto Raptors Dance Pak and has over nine seasons carved out a space for herself in the large sports organization. Nine Seasons! For anyone who is an artist knows that is a long time to be doing any one thing and getting paid for it. It is rare. It is the equivalent of spotting a Unicorn. You may be thinking, but I would get bored doing the same thing for nine years, but she has managed to thrive creatively and grow into many different roles within the organization including, dancer, choreographer, host, MC,to name a few. Even her current project Raptors Rundown is in her creative control ( I was pleasantly surprised to learn that).
Kat is playing in the acting and hosting space at the moment and loving it! She begrudgingly admits in the interview “you can’t do it all”. However, she said she is known to pop into a dance class now again or even teach a class because she will always love to dance and it will always be a part of her.
Kat Stefankiewicz: Say Yes Now And Figure Out The "How" Later
A little about Kat:
Kat joined the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment family as a member of the Raptors Dance Pak weeks after graduating from Sheridan College and this kicked off her journey in the world of entertainment. She dedicated her passion and choreography to the team for five seasons, standing as captain for three. Kat then joined the NBA TV Canada team as a host and reporter. She has since replaced her dancing shoes with a microphone as the Raptors in-game host, most recently having the opportunity to host the Rising Stars Challenge, All-Star Saturday Night and the NBA All-Star Game at NBA All-Star Weekend 2016. You can currently find her hosting the Raptors Rundown Web Series and Open Gym Fastbreak on Bell Fibe TV1.
