So excited to release this episode with Dianne Oliveira! Dianne wears her heart on her sleeve as she opens up about the challenges she has encountered along her artists’ journey and unabashedly shares dreams to pursue other creative avenues. Dianne is in the process, along with her creative partners, of founding a new theatre company, KOVAL Studio and is very excited to take on the role of producer. She has also proclaimed herself the Wasabi of the world!

Some of the things we covered in this episode are why she refuses to go along with the way the entertainment industry, specifically film and television, is type casting her, what her super human power is and why her new daily practice is giving herself permissions to change the practice.

Dianne Oliveira: Letting Go Of What You Thought You Were Supposed To Want

A little about Dianne:

Dianne first began to view the world as an artist in her parents’ basement at age 8. There, she would practice her Portuguese church hymns, polkas, and show tunes on her electric organ and perfected the fine art of make-believe. Later, she discovered dramatic arts and the theatre, (aka professional make-believe) and went on to train and work professionally as a performer and arts educator. Dianne is a founding member, performer and associate producer with KOVAL Studio, a brand new production company scheduled to launch in Toronto in late 2016. She is the co-director of The She-Wrote-It Series, which is a community of female writers also based in Toronto. She’s currently in development to self-publish a creative guidebook inspired by the She-Wrote-It collective. Dianne is also a songwriter with an interest in indie film production as both an actor and musician. Sometimes, she still catches herself playing make-believe, because playing imagination will always feel familiar.
